In January 2024, the SMPS board of directors convened for their quarterly meeting and appointed Marci Thompson, DES, as the interim CEO of the Society. Marci brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. She initially joined the Society in 2015 as the senior director of education and has since assumed various leadership positions, including VP of knowledge & professional development, chief learning officer, and most recently, chief of strategy & growth.
Dana Galvin Lancour, FSMPS, CPSM, the 2023-24 SMPS president, acknowledged the board of director’s decision, stating that “Marci’s strategic vision and unwavering commitment to SMPS make her the perfect choice for the role of interim CEO. Her proven leadership and insightful approach will ensure momentum and inspire us to achieve our goals during this transitionary period.”
The board of directors has assembled a search committee and is in the process of vetting candidates for the permanent CEO position. The goal is to find a candidate who embodies the Society’s values, vision, and mission and keep you informed every step of the way.
