Chapter Recognition

2024 Chapter Recognition Program

Formerly known as the SMPS Striving for Excellence Award, the SMPS Chapter Recognition Program showcases smart practices in chapter management and provide more visibility to all chapters. All chapters compete equally within their size category and there’s no submission process. SMPS HQ will review the 2022–23 chapter data report provided and choose winners in each category by March 29, 2024. These honorees will be asked to submit a narrative about their chapters’ successes that can be shared with the Society.

Chapters will be honored and highlighted based on the 2022–23 chapter annual report data provided to SMPS HQ. All 58 chapters will be included in the evaluation based on the following criteria for the 2022-23 fiscal year:

  • Membership Retention and Growth
  • Educational and Programming events
  • Financial Health

The chapters that have the best performance in those categories and on their chapter size (per chapter stats as of 9/1/2023) will receive a badge they can use on their website. They’ll also be featured via:

  • Chapter Leader Newsletter
  • Marketer journal
  • Marketer QuickLook
  • SMPS HQ social media channels
