Approved Provider Program
The SMPS Approved Provider Program
The SMPS Approved Provider Program allows an individual, company, or organization to be formally recognized as a provider of continuing education that supports the SMPS Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) program.
Approved providers agree to provide high-quality educational programing encompassing the SMPS Domains of Practice for Professional Services Marketers, comply with the SMPS educational standards, and maintain a current SMPS Approved Provider subscription. Providers can deliver content from their own organization only and are not allowed to share their provider number with other agencies, firms, companies, organizations, or individuals except wholly owned subsidiary organizations.
Visit our CPSM webpage to learn more on the program and the domains of practice.

- Qualified instructors must be involved in planning prior to conducting the educational programming
- Content and instructional methods must be appropriate for the intended learning outcomes of each activity

Please note: Each proposed session is subject to review and approval by SMPS.
Program requirements for use of the SMPS CEU logo include:
- Completion and approval of the SMPS Approved Provider Program Application prior to posting SMPS CEU logo on website and any educational and marketing communications
- Linkage to the SMPS website from the provider’s corporate website
- Visible display of the SMPS CEU logo with its brief text description (see below) alongside each course that is marketed as being associated with SMPS and the CPSM program
- Posting of a program agenda and/or outline for each educational session where SMPS CEUs are awarded to CPSMs to include:
- the associated Domain of Practice (one of the six domains)
- the number of CEUs assigned to the educational session
- Completion of an annual report and submission to SMPS denoting all programs conducted with applicable domain coverage and hours
Program description with SMPS CEU logo should read: (SMPS Approved Provider) is approved by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) to offer SMPS CEUs for marketing/business development educational programs. Participants may earn a maximum of ____ SMPS CEUs.
The process for awarding CEUs is as follows:
- Only programs which content falls within the six domains and follow the educational guidelines qualify for SMPS CEUs
- Identify topics that fall within the six domains of practice. Upon development of the program, ensure that the required educational standards are followed.
- Calculate and advertise the maximum number of SMPS CEUs that an attendee may earn from your program. One CEU is awarded for each hour of interaction between a learner and an instructor. For purposes of calculating CEUs, breaks, meals, and social/networking time cannot be included in the instruction time.
- It is the responsibility of program attendees to track their own CEUs and record CEUs within the online SMPS Recertification Portal. Approved providers must issue a Certificate of Completion so that attendees can record their successful completion of your program.
