About the Marketing Communication Awards Program

The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) Program is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards competition that recognizes excellence in marketing communications produced by professional services firms in the design and building industries. The program provides an unparalleled opportunity for professionals to showcase their best marketing practices and to educate the industry about the critical role of marketing in a successful firm. This competition is open to SMPS members and nonmembers employed in the US and international professional services firms.

Announcing the 2024 MCA winners

SMPS is pleased to announce the winners of its 2024 Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) program. The MCA Awards of Excellence, Merit Awards, Best of Show and People’s Choice Award, were presented during the SMPS Awards Luncheon on July 25th at Amplify A|E|C in Salt Lake City.

Best of Show Award

The Best of Show Award features the winning entries from each category going head-to-head to be named Best of Show voted on by a jury of outside industry marketing professionals. This year’s award went to Middle of Six from Tacoma, WA for their entry titled “The Wildcards Campaign” in the Brand Awareness Campaign category.

One juror commented, “What a fun campaign! This is a great idea and an excellent way to promote your business. In AEC marketing we recognize all of those Wildcards and work with them every day. Thank you for identifying them and giving them nicknames. This really showed you understand AEC marketing, and they resonate with us.”

People's Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award, voted on by conference attendees and the virtual SMPS community alike, was awarded to the Consor Engineers from Houston, TX for its intranet website ”Beacon.”

A juror stated that “This was a great way to engender ownership was to have employees choose the name. Very impressed with beta testing and clear instructions for training. It’s a very tall order to consolidate so many offices and company cultures into one. The naming and carry-through on the metaphor of light was clever.”
