SMPS is pleased to announce that Barbara Shuck, FSMPS, CPSM, has been honored with the 2022 Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award (WCMAA). Barbara, a member of SMPS Nebraska, accepted her award during Amplify A|E|C, the Society’s annual conference, on July 19, 2022, in Atlanta.
The Society’s highest honor, the WCMAA salutes a remarkable marketing or business development professional whose career achievements, leadership role, and lasting contributions to the A/E/C industries are exemplary.
Barbara Shuck, FSMPS, CPSM, joins a distinguished group of accomplished members who embody the mission and spirit of SMPS and are valued advisers to the organization. Barbara is the 31st recipient of the award, named in memory of marketing pioneer, SMPS founder, and past honoree Weld Coxe.
For more than 25 years, Barbara, who’s president of Everest Marketing Services, has made a huge impact in the A/E/C industries. She’s a marketing and business development veteran, instructor, and industry speaker.
Throughout her career, Barbara has served 22 consecutive years of active SMPS volunteerism, with several years on the Society’s board of directors and as an SPSM Foundation trustee. She has also served in chapter president roles at SMPS Arizona and SMPS Nebraska.
Barbara is passionate about her career and creating opportunities to advance the A/E/C profession. Her philosophy is “Learn, Do, Master, Teach,” which is evident by the 2,000 hours she has spent delivering content through workshops, chapter and conference programming, university sessions, and articles.
Barbara’s contributions and commitment to SMPS and to the profession are monumental. She lives by the mantra of Go Beyond, inspiring every professional she meets to be the best they can be. In fact, Martha Albue, CPSM, says that Barbara is truly an inspiration and an SMPS Superhero. Bart Pugh, CPSM, adds, “Barbara has always made time for others and has been willing to go the extra mile to help other people in their journey.”
When asked about her well-deserved recognition, Barbara says that Weld Coxe was instrumental in creating this professional that she loves. “The previous 30 recipients paved the path so my career could be filled with many opportunities and experiences. This award is a testament to the importance of SMPS in developing the knowledge, skills, and network that makes professional services marketing such a rewarding career. I’m thankful for falling into the A/E/C industry and experiencing the power of SMPS.”
Congratulations, again, to Barbara Shuck, FSMPS, CPSM!
