2021-22 Leadership Announced

The Society for Marketing Professionals Services (SMPS) is grateful for the enthusiastic response to our invitation for members to serve in volunteer leadership roles. The Nominations and Elections Committee thoroughly reviewed all the qualified applications and is pleased to present the slate of officers, directors, and trustees for the forthcoming fiscal year.

In accordance with the SMPS bylaws, the following candidates have been appointed by the Nominations and Elections Committee to fill three open positions on the 2021-22 SMPS board of directors:

  • President-Elect: Holly Bolton, FSMPS, CPSM, Owner, 3chord Marketing, Indianapolis, IN (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022)
  • Secretary-Treasurer: Mike Wagner, CPSM, Vice President, Business Development, Hill International, Inc. (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (First term)
  • At-Large Director: Dr. Paula Stamp, MBA, CPSM, Director, Business Development, PCL Construction Services, Inc., Glendale, CA (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (First term)

Four current directors will continue serving on the SMPS board in 2021–22 in the following positions:

  • President: Bernice Bako, MBA, FSMPS, CPSM, Director of Marketing, Global Development, Turner Construction Company, Farmers Branch, TX (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022)
  • Past-President: Doug Parker, FSMPS, CPSM, Principal, Elevate Marketing Advisors, Houston, TX (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022)
  • At-Large Director: Dana Galvin Lancour, FSMPS, CPSM, Vice President, Branding + Communications, Barton Malow Holdings, Southfield, MI (Term: September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2022) (First term)
  • At-Large Director: Kimberly Thompkins, FSMPS, CPSM, Director of Proposals, Cumming Management Group, Inc., Atlanta, GA (Term: September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2022) (First term)

The Nominations and Elections Committee also recommended and the SMPS board approved the following SMPS Foundation member trustee in 2021–22:

  • Janet E. Brooks, CPSM, Director of Business Development, Clark Nexsen, Matthews, NC (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (First term)
  • Stacy Cunningham, CPSM, Marketing Manager, Dynamix Engineering, A Veregy Company, Columbus, OH (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023)  (First term)
  • Andrea Goodwin, CPSM, Director, Communications, BGE, Inc., Houston, TX (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (Third term)
  • Janet L. Lively, CPSM, Business Development Manager – New Markets, Schmidt Associates, Louisville, KY (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (Second term)
  • Michele R. Raftery, CPSM, Principal, 4240 Architecture Inc., Denver, CO (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (First Term)
  • Barbara D. Shuck, FSMPS, CPSM, President, Everest Marketing Services, Blair, NE (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (Second term)
  • Brad Thurman, P.E., FSMPS, CPSM, Principal & Chief Marketing Officer, Wallace Engineering, Tulsa, OK (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (Third term)
  • Joy Woo, CPSM, LEED AP, Associate Vice President, Cities, AECOM, San Francisco, CA (Term: September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023) (First term)

The following trustees will continue to serve on the SMPS Foundation board in 2021–23:
