SMPS Announces Recipients of 2018 Marketing Communications Awards

MCA recognizes excellence in marketing and communications in the A/E/C industries

Alexandria, VA–The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier A/E/C marketing and business development association, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2018 Marketing Communications Awards (MCA). This annual competition is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industries. The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) recognize the individuals and teams who create outstanding communication vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms.

“This is the only awards program that highlights the critical role and immense value marketing professionals bring to the design and building industries,” stated SMPS VP of Marketing Josh Miles. The award winners were announced and honored on August 16th in San Diego, as part of Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, held August 15–17.

The Best of Show Award, bestowed by a jury of industry executives, was awarded to Populous for their Promotional Campaign entitled, “The Revenue Revolution | Data-Driven Design Campaign.” Jurors said this campaign provided an excellent blending of data, graphics, and images. It was eye-catching, creative, and easy to consume. They really hit it out of the park!

The People’s Choice Award, voted on by conference attendees and SMPS members alike, was awarded to HNTB from New York, NY, for its Brochure, “HNTB Loves New York.”

MCA Director Molly Dall’Erta shared that the online judging and voting were new to the program this year. 287 entries were judged entirely online year by a distinguished panel of 100 jurors. “We were able to use the polling feature in our online MCA Gallery which increased both our pool of jurors and opened the People’s Choice Award up to be voted on by a larger group of members and industry colleagues,” said Dall’Erta. Visit the MCA Gallery, sponsored by Cosential, to see the winning entries and to help benchmark your marketing communications efforts.
