Here is a chance to broaden your knowledge base, add to
your resume, contribute to the profession, make a little money, and
present to your peers at Build Business 2009 (with discounted
registration!): Author an SMPS Foundation White Paper!
The SMPS Foundation will publish six white papers for presentation at
Build Business 2009 in Las Vegas. Download the application package to see
guidelines, proposed topics, schedule, and application requirements.
Deadline extended: Applications to participate in the
2009 White Paper Project must be submitted by e-mail by Monday,
November 24, 2008, to earl@smps.org.
About the SMPS Foundation
The SMPS Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization
established by the Society to promote research and education that
advances the body of knowledge in the field of professional services
marketing and develops a greater understanding of the role and value of
marketing in the industries we serve.
The SMPS Foundation actively promotes recognition of professional
services marketing as an essential element of the modern A/E/C business
model. It seeks to identify and evaluate evolving marketing
practices and to provide marketers with information and tools needed to
achieve effective results in the changing business environment.
The SMPS Foundation undertakes a number of activities to
support these objectives:
- Conduct industry surveys to identify developing trends
- Fund original research to measure and evaluate effectiveness of both
fundamental and new marketing practices
- Perform literature searches and publish white papers on timely
marketing issues
- Organize periodic Thought Leaders Retreats to stimulate tap the
collective insights of experienced practitioners and prepare an annual
compendium of future-thinking papers
- Forecast shifting economic conditions and their anticipated impact
on different segments of the industry
- Publish results of surveys, research and trends analyses
- Support revision and publication of the Marketing Handbook for the
Design and Construction Professional, the most authoritative guide to
marketing excellence
- Assist in developing a comprehensive Standards of Practice for
professional services marketing
- Offer stipends to students to attend the national marketing
conference, Build Business
- Cooperate with other industry associations and their foundations on
matters of mutual interest and benefit

The work of the SMPS Foundation is funded entirely by voluntary,
tax-deductible contributions from both individuals and corporate donors
who recognize the growing importance of marketing’s role and who

Each year, the Foundation seeks proposals for original research to
educate the industry and contribute to the body of knowledge on
professional services marketing.
