Tim Barrick Recognized With Marketing Achievement Award
Passionate marketer and industry trailblazer accepts highest honor awarded by SMPS.
SMPS is pleased to announce that Tim Barrick, FSMPS, has been honored with the 2017 Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award. Barrick, a member of SMPS Indiana, accepted his award at Build Business during the Evening of Excellence in Indianapolis.
The Society’s highest honor, the Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award, salutes a remarkable marketing or business development professional whose career achievements, leadership role, and lasting contributions to the industry are exemplary.
Barrick joins a distinguished group of accomplished members who embody the mission and spirit of SMPS and are valued advisers to the organization. He is the 26th recipient of the award, named in memory of marketing pioneer, SMPS founder, and past honoree Weld Coxe.
Barrick is a self-professed practitioner of blue-collar marketing, with a roll-up-your sleeves and get-it-done attitude. His work ethic, ability to learn on the job, and skills in developing creative strategies have resulted in a lifetime of achievement.
He has been an active member of SMPS since 1987 and currently serves as principal/executive vice president at RATIO Architects in Indianapolis, IN. At RATIO, Barrick has always sought new technologies and tactics to evolve their brand. As a result, RATIO has seen tremendous gains in the percentage of repeat clients, from 20 percent in the early ’90s to more than 7o percent today. Tony Steinhardt, FSMPS, CPSM, principle/vice president at RATIO has been “blessed to work with a marketer at the top of his game, a mentor, a close friend, and a partner.”
Barrick has also made a lasting impact on SMPS and has been a mentor to countless professionals. Karen O. Courtney, AIA, FSMPS, CPSM, a 2013 MAA recipient, states that “Tim has been a tireless advocate for SMPS, and a champion of programs that we now take for granted.” Outside of work, Barrick has given back in many ways, specifically to his hometown of Shelbyville, IN, where he volunteers with local charities and mentors high school students.
