SMPS Board of Directors Adopts Strategic Plan

Since our founding 50 years ago in 1973, SMPS has strived to continually explore and then invest in future opportunities that expand the organization’s influence and support for our members and the marketing profession. Recently, we capitalized on technology to better connect the chapters and modernize operations. For example, member services such as digitized publications, online learning, and more were enhanced to push the envelope of our business strategies. In fact, the brand positioning launched a few years ago was an outcome of a strategic planning process and led to the vision of revolutionizing marketing. Specifically, our vision of Business Transformed Through Marketing Leadership drives programs and membership activities.

As we celebrate our golden anniversary, the board of directors is incrementally addressing the next 50 years. They’re starting with a strategic plan for the next few years that will have short- and long- term implications. Our winning aspiration is that on January 1, 2026, SMPS is an accessible and indispensable community for all professionals who drive growth and sustainability for A/E/C firms. Furthermore, SMPS is bold, anticipatory, and resolute in advancing a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our organization and the industry.

The strategic plan is focused on the end results—our impact—and we’ll develop over time the tasks to get there through three priorities.
