Never Stop Reflecting

Never Stop Reflecting

The summer is (almost) officially over and, for some of us, it seems like a blur. Where’d the time go and what did we do? Spending time with family and friends (even through Zoom) seemed like a highlight of recent months. If you’re like me, you also spent some time reflecting on what’s been going on around us. With the world’s affairs consuming us, we may not have spent enough time reflecting on our own lives.

But it’s not too late. It’s never too late. As we go into fall, it’s a great time to take a look. Have you asked yourself: Am I making enough time to learn and evolve in my professional life? And by the way, this doesn’t mean you have to make a move. It could mean volunteering, adding more skills, or networking.

With your membership, there are many ways to accomplish this. You could:

Another way is to stay informed, especially when it comes to your salary and benefits. Participating in the annual SMPS Compensation and Metrics Survey offers one way to do that. If you answer 40% or more of the questions, you’re able to run filtered reports (beginning in mid-December) based on state or region, role/responsibility, type or size of firm, and more. And new this year, we have a short survey on pandemic influence as it applies to compensation that anyone in the industry is invited to fill out. You can use this data to help you make informed decisions about your current situation.

Don’t forget, SMPS is here to support you and provide various tools as your professional journey unfolds over the fall and in the future.

Until next time,

Tina Myers, CAE
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
