2018 MCA Call for Entries Opens  on December 1, 2017

Entering is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. On December 1, log on at www.smps.org/mcaentry
2. Complete the entry form and upload your entry images and supporting documents
3. Make payment online. You are finished! Finalists will be notified by May 1st.

  • NEW for 2018! MCA Outstanding Chapter Awards
    For the first time, SMPS will recognize the chapter with the most winning entries from the 2018 MCA competition. An award will be presented chapters based on their membership size, (small, medium, large and extra-large). One chapter from each size category may be recognized during the SMPS Evening of Excellence on August 16.
  • There are 20 categories in the competition this year. If you are not sure which category to enter, please contact the Awards Program Director at [email protected].
  • Submittal requirements vary depending on category. Read individual category descriptions below for submittal requirement details.
  • Materials completed between January 2016 and January 2018 will be accepted for the 2018 competition.
  • There are multiple discounts available, check out details on entry fees

  • Early Discount Deadline: March 2, 2018

  • Final Deadline: March 23, 2018

  • Competition is open to both members and non-members. No pre-qualification or preliminary evaluation is required.

2017  Marketing Communications Award Winners Announced!

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier A/E/C marketing and business development association, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2017 Marketing Communications Awards (MCA). This annual competition is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industry. The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) recognize the individuals and teams who create outstanding communication vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms.

This is the only awards program that highlights the critical role and immense value marketing professionals bring to the design and building industry. The award winners were announced and honored on July 13 in Indianapolis, IN, as a part of Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, held July 12-14.

The Best of Show Award, bestowed by a jury of industry executives, was awarded to Notkin Mechanical Engineers from Seattle, Washington, for their Book/Monograph entry titled, Architecture of the Pacific Northwest: A Playing Card Artwork Project. Jurors said this playing card artwork project took the focus off the client and showcased the talent of the Pacific Northwest design community. It was extremely creative, well written, and demonstrated results.

The People’s Choice Award, voted on by the attendees of the SMPS conference, was awarded to Hensel Phelps from Greeley, Colorado, for its Recruitment and Retention category, “Work Hard, Play Hard.”

2016 Marketing Communications Awards Winners Announced

The award winners were announced and honored on August 11th in Philadelphia, PA, as a part of Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, held August 10-12.

The Best of Show Award, bestowed by a jury of national trade magazine editors and publishers, was awarded to Professional Engineering Consultants, from Wichita, KS, for their video “Come Work At PEC!” This entry was selected as Best of Show because it delivered a compelling message with a light, humorous touch. It had superb writing, good camera work, and generated measurable results. The People’s Choice Award, voted on by the attendees of the SMPS conference, was awarded to Henderson Engineers from Lenexa, KS, for its holiday piece, “Work Hard. Play Hard. Give Back.”

About the Marketing Communications Awards

The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards Program is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards competition that recognizes excellence in marketing communications produced by professional services firms in the design and building industry. The program provides an unparalleled opportunity for professionals to showcase their best marketing practices and to educate the industry about the critical role of marketing in successful firms.

This competition is open to SMPS members and nonmembers employed in the US and international professional services firms. Marketing communication projects completed between January 2016 and January 2018 will be accepted for the 2018 competition.

All winners are honored on stage and with an award during the SMPS Awards Gala on August 16 in San Diego, held in conjunction with Build Business, the Society’s annual conference. Winning entries will be on display throughout the conference, August 15–17, for the benefit of the attendees.

In addition, winning firms are promoted to industry media and building industry associations, in SMPS publications including Marketer, on the SMPS website and social media channels, and in DesignIntelligence’s Almanac of Architecture & Design.
