Gratitude in the Midst of Chaos

Gratitude in the Midst of Chaos

Is it just me, or is it easy to get wrapped up in chaos this time of year? No pun intended.

This certainly was the case just a few days ago. I was preparing to host an extended family gathering at my home and juggling what seemed to be a never-ending to-do list when my phone rang. It was a dear friend from high school calling. I immediately answered, thinking something must be terribly wrong. However, there was no reason for the call; he simply wanted to say hello because he’d been thinking of me.

Wow!

It would have been easy for him to send a text, and that would have been nice. But it also wouldn’t have had the same impact. Those five minutes we spent on the phone have stayed with me ever since (obviously I’m still talking about it!). It truly was a gift—and the reminder I needed to turn my focus away from the chaos and onto gratitude.

On behalf of my fellow trustees, the SMPS Foundation is so very grateful for every gift received—no matter how big or small. If you’re looking for a year-end giving opportunity, please consider making a donation. Your support allows us to provide research and education to advance our profession. That’s something for which we can all be grateful.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season!
