Thank you to all who have responded to the call for volunteers.  This is now closed.  Within the next few weeks, we will be working on committee and other volunteer assignments and will be in touch with all.

 

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Certification Committee

Committee members serve in an advisory capacity to build awareness of the program, establish the credibility of the profession through certification, cultivate professionalism, and help communicate the value of the CPSM designation as it supports career advancement. 

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be a CPSM

Commitment:

  • Term: September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022 
  • Generally, 1 monthly conference call 
  • Tasks may be determined throughout the year. Time commitment TBD.

Chapter Leadership Symposium 2022 Leaders

To provide content and training to chapter leaders that will help enhance the chapter experience for all members, improve the ability for our chapters to offer impactful adult learning programs, and develop interpersonal and leadership skills for CLS attendees. 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must be a CPSM or FSMPS 
  • Possesses superior leadership and presentation skills 

Commitment: 

  • Term: September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022 
  • Meetings will be held bi-monthly, via video conferencing, and in-person meetings may be requested as we get closer to the CLS event.

Diversity & Inclusion Task Force

The purpose of this task force is to suggest initiatives and strategic objectives to the board of directors and staff to increase awareness of and support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the membership, marketing profession, and our members’ firms. 

Other Qualifications:
Ideal candidates asked to serve will have some of the following experiences:

  • Previous experience working on the same or similar issues (professionally or as a volunteer)
  • Experience leading culture change in an A/E/C firm(s) and/or organization
  • Served as a leader of an SMPS chapter and/or of a community organization(s)
  • Academic training and/or a relevant knowledge base on the issues

Commitment: 

  • Term: September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022 
  • Meetings will be held monthly, via video conferencing, and in-person meetings may be requested as needed.

Professional Development Advisory Council

The advisory council will help guide the SMPS learning and professional development agenda. The Education Group will assist by recommending content for SMPS programs and publications and other resources to meet the need and interests of marketers and business developers. 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience leading chapter, regional or national programming. For example, previously served as Chapter Program Chair or Conference Chair. 

Commitment: 

  • Term: September 1, 2021, through August 31, 2022 
  • Meetings will be held quarterly, via video conferencing.

Chapter Management Manuals (Reviewers & Curators)

It is important for ALL chapter leaders to become familiar with the primary elements of managing and building a successful chapter. As such, along with training and development offered throughout the year, SMPS HQ publishes chapter management manuals focusing on these key management areas. We are now seeking past chapter presidents as outside reviewers and curators to enrich these valuable resources.

  • Must have previously served as an SMPS chapter president 

Commitment: 

  • Term: September 2021, through March 2022

Chapter Strategic Planning Toolkit (Reviewers & Curators)

The Chapter Strategic Planning Toolkit is a framework to help our chapter leaders determine where their chapter is going and why, as well as what to focus on and how to get there. 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must have previously served as an SMPS chapter leader/volunteer 

Commitment: 

  • Term: September 2021, through March 2022

Jurors: Marketing Communications Awards, Chapter Striving for Excellence Awards, & Chapter President of the Year Award

SMPS is seeking jurors to evaluate entries for the following awards:  

Marketing Communications Awards:

The program provides an unparalleled opportunity for professionals to showcase their best marketing practices and to educate the industry about the critical role of marketing in successful firms. 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must have been a member for 5 or more years 

Commitment: 

  • Late spring of 2022, jurors will be assigned entries to evaluate (timeframe is subject to change) 

Chapter President of the Year Award:

The SMPS Chapter President of the Year Award recognizes an SMPS chapter president who has demonstrated excellence in leadership while serving the chapter and its members.   

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must participate in a volunteer committee training program 

Commitment: 

  • Late winter or early spring of 2022, jurors will be assigned entries to evaluate 

Chapter Striving for Excellence Awards:

The SMPS Chapter Striving for Excellence Awards recognizes those chapters that significantly advance and enhance professional services marketing and business development through excellent programs, strong leadership, increased membership, quality communications, and strong financial health. 

Other Qualifications: 

  • Must participate in a volunteer committee training program 

Commitment: 

  • Late winter or early spring of 2022, jurors will be assigned entries to evaluate

SERVICE

  • In order to ensure a fair opportunity for all to serve, members may only serve on a particular volunteer group for no more than two consecutive years
  • Participants may not serve on more than one committee at a time
