Build Business Experiences: Donna Jakubowicz

Donna Jakubowicz, FSMPS, CPSM, brand manager at Wade Trim, recently chatted with the Society about her role at Wade Trim and experience attending Build Business in 2020.
What’s a usual day like for you at your job? One of the things I like about my job is the variety. My days are never the same.
What’s your favorite part of the job? With this role, I’m doing new and different things and learning as I go. I love the challenges and opportunities this provides. It’s never boring.
How many times have you attended Build Business? If I’m counting correctly, I’ve attended 20 Build Business conferences.
What made you decide to attend Build Business 2020? I’ve attended Build Business for years and always learn and have a great time. I expected Build Business 2020 to provide the same level of excellent programming and opportunities to see old friends and meet new ones.
What did you think of the conference? I thought the programming was well-thought-out and allowed something for everyone.
What did you think of the virtual experience? I was pleasantly surprised by the networking and socializing opportunities. I loved the chat function during the program. It was great to interact with the presenters and with fellow attendees. I also loved that I could see all the sessions at my own pace.
Did you have a favorite part of the conference? My favorite sessions were Mark Schulman’s keynote and Javier Suarez’s Life With Pablo MAX TALK. Both were inspiring and fun and so authentic.
What do you think you walked away with and could bring back to your firm to help with your job? My key takeaway was a change in perception. As Mark Schulman advised, I have changed my thinking from “I have to do…” to “I get to do…”. This seemingly simple change has made a world of difference. I also revamped my firm’s stewardship program to incorporate ideas from my M Live! Panel on The Competitive Advantage of Doing Good-Philanthropy in the A/E/C Industry session.
