Following graduation with an engineering degree, Wally started developing his technical and project management skills. After five years of "doing," he moved into managing people, contracts, clients, offices, and regions. Finally, his passion for selling emerged, and he migrated into sales training, sales management, and business development.

Wally considers himself a right-brained engineer who thrives on developing creative solutions, leading people and teams to achieve better results, and winning. He’s a senior vice president at HDR, a licensed professional engineer, and a certified sales trainer.

Gavin Parr

As a principal and the CEO of CCS International, Inc., Gavin provides leadership and management of strategic and day-to-day operations of the business organization. His responsibilities include general office administration, client management, business development, quality assurance, and management accountability for determining resources, staff hiring, and training needs to support strategic objectives.

Gavin provides leadership and mentoring to staff by actively managing revenue, expenses, clients, and projects. He has been with CCS International Inc. since 2000 and has developed a strong understanding of business development in the A/E/C industries through a large network of clients. Gavin served in various board positions including past-president of SMPS Chicago. He is also a member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), American Institutes of Architects, and American Society of Healthcare Engineers.

Bethany Smith, FSMPS, CPSM

At Messer Construction Company, Bethany Smith leads a dynamic team whose mission is to drive strategic, thought-provoking communication through innovative channels to reach all members of the Messer community. Messer is a 1800-person construction services firm based in Cincinnati, OH with 10 regional offices with revenues exceeding $1 billion.

Before joining Messer in 2016, Bethany served in marketing, business development and community affairs roles for Taft Law and Turner Construction Co. She received her Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) designation from SMPS in 2005, and was named a SMPS Fellow in 2014. Bethany has been honored as Marketer of the Year by SMPS, a Next Generation Leader from the NKY Chamber, and as one of Cincinnati’s Forty Under 40.

In addition to her passion for marketing professional services and SMPS, Bethany devotes time to the Greater Cincinnati Children’s Law Center, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Allied Construction Industries.

Donna Jakubowicz, FSMPS, CPSM, is a strategic thinker who looks beyond what’s been done in the past to the possibilities for future growth and success. She has more than 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industries and brings a keen business sense, financial acumen, demonstrated experience building highly effective teams, and a passion for helping others reach their potential.

As brand manager for the engineering firm Wade Trim, she leads the design of strategic marketing activities and tools to promote branding and support sales. A seasoned presentation coach, presenter, and trainer, she has presented at Build Business, as well as AGC and AIA national and regional events. Donna has served as past-president of the SMPS Foundation, at-large director on the SMPS board of directors, and is a past-president of SMPS Michigan.

Kenda Salisbury, FSMPS, CPSM

Kenda Salisbury, FSMPS, CPSM, is responsible for leading Degenkolb Engineers’ strategic growth efforts across the Pacific Northwest region. With more than 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industries, Kenda specializes in developing and managing client development strategy. She has been successful in mentoring and working closely with technical professionals to help them strengthen their client relationships and build business.

Kenda was named an SMPS Fellow in 2019 and has been a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) for more than 15 years. She’s an active member of SMPS, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and the Washington State Society for Healthcare Engineers (WSSHE). Kenda is also a founding member of Building Women, an organization focused on the education and growth of women in the healthcare design and construction industries. She serves on the Standing Advisory Committee for Harborview Medical Center, acting as a community advocate for the hospital’s design and construction projects.
