H2M architects + engineers
Gil Brindley, P.E., CPSM, is director of the NYC Regional office for H2M, a NY metro area multi-disciplined AE firm. As director of marketing, he is responsible for all corporate marketing and communications, and works hand-in-hand with the sales and business development teams. As both a marketing professional and licensed practitioner, he has a unique perspective on business development, marketing, and operations.
Throughout his 25-year career in the AEC industry, Brindley has worn many hats—owner, engineer, and contractor. From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Brindley owned and operated Benjamin Brindley & Sons, an engineering and construction management firm that specialized in meeting the needs of the insurance industry.
In 2008, he worked with Massaro Corporation, a $200 million Pittsburgh-based regional firm, and was responsible for development and implementation of the corporate strategic plan for general contractors. He worked integrally with sales, estimating, and operations to coordinate project life-cycle. From 2006 to 2008, Brindley was executive vice president for Professional Service Industries, which is a nationally recognized consulting engineering and testing firm in several disciplines, including construction services, materials testing, roof consulting, and asbestos management. With 125 offices nationwide, he was responsible for PSI’s operations covering Pennsylvania and West Virginia, as well as leading their acquisition efforts nationally.
Prior to joining PSI, Brindley spent ten years with Dick Corporation, an ENR Top 50, $600 million national contractor, construction manager, and design-builder. As group executive, he focused on building business for the firm’s construction and environmental services. Brindley was responsible for all business development and marketing efforts for the continental United States. He also served as president of the firm’s subsidiary, Dick Environmental Services, which provided turnkey remediation services for public and private clients.
Upon graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in engineering, Brindley served five years on active duty with the Corps of Engineers in Germany, Virginia, and Oklahoma. After active duty, he began his civilian career in the Washington, DC, market working for F&R as a geotechnical engineer. Several years later, he served as a project manager on the development and construction of the Dulles Greenway, the first privately financed toll road in the United States.
Mr. Brindley holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He has been a member of SMPS since 2000, and currently serves on the faculty for the SMPS Business Development Institute. He is active in the SMPS New York and involved in the planning of the SMPS Northeast Regional Conference. Brindley also served local chapters as membership chair, programs chair, and past-president, to name a few.
