The Society’s volunteer leaders and staff members met last month at SMPS HQ in Alexandria, VA, for its fall board of directors meeting. During the October meeting, discussions were insightful and productive, steering the organization forward for the work ahead to strengthen member engagement for our future.
Here are a few highlights from the meeting:
- The Society’s 2024-2025 budget was approved.
- Society leaders focused on member engagement and chapter leader support by engaging in a pull planning session. A more structured approach to SMPS HQ support of members and chapter leaders is forthcoming.
- SMPS board of directors met with SMPS Washington, DC board leaders and had conversations about the future of the Society, leadership development, and greater support for members and chapter leaders. This was a continuation of the listening tour.
- SMPS Foundation shared the success of two new research reports now available (AEC.BD and Industry Trends Report) and year three of the SMPS Foundation Zinsmeyer Scholarship. Sixteen recipients will receive $1,500 scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year. To date, the SMPS Foundation has awarded 47 scholarships.
