Meet a Build Business Attendee

About Steve Pangere

“One of my favorite parts of my job is acting as a mentor to my employees. I enjoy sharing with them my past experiences and working with them in developing their careers.”

SMPS member Steve Pangere is president and CEO of The Pangere Corporation in Gary, Indiana. He recently sat down with SMPS to talk about his career and what he gained from attending Build Business for the first time in 2016.

What’s a typical day like for you? A typical day involves reviewing and responding to emails and mail, receiving and making phone calls to business associates and customers, meetings with the management team, reviewing business articles to keep up-to-date on the latest developments, including marketing and technology.

What’s your favorite part of the job? One of my favorite parts of my job is acting as a mentor to my employees. I enjoy sharing with them my past experiences and working with them in developing their careers. Another favorite part of my job is visiting our existing customers. I also enjoy the opportunity of meeting new and potential customers.

As a first-time attendee at Build Business, can you describe your experience? Even though I’ve been in this business for over 40 years, I gained new information on business development and the redefining of competitive advantages.

What made you decide to attend and did it meet your expectations? Our company is expanding in a new market, and it was my feeling that Build Business would provide me with a different marketing and business development approach. The conference did provide me with some new ideas, but I did feel that the conference, in some respects, was geared towards attendees who were just starting out in the business.

Did you have a favorite part of the conference? My favorite part was having the opportunity to network with the other attendees from across the country and learning from them their different approaches to marketing and business development.
