About the Fellows Recognition Program
The Fellows of SMPS represent the highest level of experience and leadership in marketing within the design and building industry. The Fellows serve as a resource at the chapter, regional, and national levels, providing insight, ideas, programs, and mentoring for the benefit of the members and the Society. In addition, these individuals teach, write, and speak on marketing issues outside of SMPS, working to advance the profession of marketing professional services throughout the architectural/engineering/construction industry.
Only members who have been active in the Society for at least 10 years of the previous 15 consecutive years, have 15 years experience as a marketer and/or business developer in the A/E/C industry, and have held a current CPSM certification designation for a minimum of five years are qualified to apply for the Fellows Recognition Program. Fellows are selected by a jury of Fellows appointed by the Fellows Delegate of the SMPS Board of Directors and honored during Build Business, the SMPS annual conference.

Judy Schriener Named 2016 SMPS Honorary Fellow
Award-winning journalist, author, and radio-show host honored at SMPS annual conference.
The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier A/E/C marketing and business development association, is pleased to announce that Judy Schriener has been bestowed the SMPS Honorary Fellow designation. She was honored at Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, during The Society Gala on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
In its second year, the Honorary Fellows program is a designation for extraordinary service. It is bestowed to an individual of esteemed character and achievements who supports the practice of marketing and business development within the A/E/C community. An SMPS Fellow may nominate a qualified individual for Honorary Fellowship. Nominations may also be accepted by a member of the SMPS board of directors or the CEO. An Honorary Fellow is not a current SMPS member or has not been a member of SMPS within the past 10 years.
For the past 30 years, Judy Schriener, award-winning journalist, author, and radio-show host, has leveraged her extensive experience to advance the marketing profession in the A/E/C industry. She first found her passion in business journalism when she became a writer/reporter for the Arizona Business Gazette. Within a year, Schriener was writing a column for the Arizona Republic, the state’s largest daily newspaper. In 1989, she moved to New York to join McGraw-Hill, and after a stint in Washington, D.C., returned to the company. She spent 16 years within their construction publications group, eight as an editor at Engineering News–Record, covering business and technology.
Schriener currently consults for an Arizona engineering firm and her radio show, “Off the Record with Judy” has been on the air for three-and-a-half years. Within the SMPS community, she has been a contributor and supporter for decades. From conference speaker to public relations committee advisor, she has helped members and SMPS as a whole prosper.
When asked about Schriener, her nominators shared glowing reviews. “Judy is a passionate journalist who gives her heart and soul to every project she runs. She is a wonderful resource for the next generation of marketers in the industry.” Another nominator adds, “Her editorial skills, industry connections, and passion for launching publications are invaluable.”
