First-place winners in all categories are considered for the Best of Show Award. Representatives from major national trade publications and media leaders judged the entries eligible for Best of Show during the 2003 SMPS/PSMA National Conference in Phoenix, and this winner was announced at the Awards Gala on August 14. In addition, all MCA winners are eligible for the People's Choice Award. Winning MCA entries were displayed at the conference, and conference attendees were invited to vote for their favorite. These winners will be announced on the SMPS web site in mid-August and in the October issue of Marketer.

Open to SMPS members and nonmembers alike, the MCA program offers professional service firms an opportunity to showcase their best marketing efforts each year and to receive feedback from a jury of experts representing various roles in the A/E/C industry. This year's program was chaired by Mike Savage, vice president of Geotechnologies Inc. in Glendale, CA. Also on the committee were:

  • 2004 MCA Chair Donna Corlew, CPSM, director of marketing for Gould Turner Group, Nashville, TN
  • Andrea C. Fitch, director of marketing for HITT Contracting Inc., Fairfax, VA
