Scott Milder,
CPSM, of Dallas/Fort Worth Selected as 2003 Chapter President of the
Year
The
Chapter President of the Year Award represents excellence in leadership
through empowerment of chapter members and committees, innovative programs
and educational resources, strategy for continued growth, and overall
natural enthusiasm in a manner that creates an environment for engaging
involvement.
This is what it takes to build a stronger, closer, more vital and active
chapter-the foundation of SMPS. Milder is the current Chapter President
of the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Chapter and vice president of communications
with SHW Group Inc. in Dallas.
Milder prepared for his presidency very early in his year as President-Elect
with pre-planning, generating creative ideas and setting a goal of "leadership
development" for the Chapter Board. Under his leadership, the DFW
Chapter has become a well-oiled machine. A few of the chapter's accomplishments
under Milder's leadership include:
·
increased reserves from $10 per member to over $100 per member
· implemented online registration/payment for programs
· developed new scholarship program standards, qualifications,
and career goals that increased the award amount four times over that
of the previous year's award
· designed a June Annual Board Planning Retreat for both outgoing
and incoming board members
· created a chapter handbook for local members
· participated in planning for the first Southern Regional
Conference in years, with attendance of 110= increasing national recognition
for the DFW Chapter and the southern region
· offered exceptional and more frequent programs, social/networking
events, and "Training at Night."
Milder
received the Chapter President of the Year Award during the SMPS Awards
Gala on August 14 in Phoenix. The Chapter President of the Year is selected
by a distinguished jury of former SMPS Chapter Presidents. This year's

for Flintco Inc. in Oklahoma City. OK. The jurors included Jane A. Caffey,
