Who
is Eligible?
To be eligible, the candidate must have served as a Chapter President
in the programming year 2004-2005. All nominations must be made by
a current SMPS member.
Guidelines
for Nominations
All nominations must include:

General Information about your nominee (Name, address, SMPS member
number, telephone, fax and e-mail).
- Your
general information (Name, address, SMPS member number, telephone,
fax and e-mail).
- Letters
of Support for Nominee.
1.
Please provide three letters of support from SMPS members. Two
letters should be from members of the Chapter President's chapter;
the third letter may be from a member of a neighboring chapter
if desired. The letters of support should be two pages or less,
stating specific reasons why the writer feels the nominee should
receive the award. (10 Points)
- Examples
of Achievement.
1.
In a total of five pages or less, submit a synopsis describing
how the nominee initiated or influenced each of the following
five items during his or her term. *Samples of documents supporting
any of the five achievement items may be included in a Addenda.
A.
Achieved or enhanced chapter financial stability. Demonstrated
fiscal responsibility, which might include recovery from a
difficult financial year or continuation of a positive trend;
adhering to an annual budget; a positive cash flow and net
income; a reserve fund; an annual audit. (20 Points)
B.
Initiated new chapter program. Ensured the chapter followed
SMPS guidelines for educational programs. Sought ways to increase
the value of membership. (20 Points)
C.
Increased chapter/national organization visibility. Encouraged
publicity in a variety of channels. (10 Points)
D.
Recruited and retained members. Encouraged and participated
in efforts to show a net gain in number of members and to
make chapter members feel welcome and included. (20 Points)
E.
Led the chapter in an innovative manner. Fostered an environment
among members and other chapter leaders where new ideas and
approaches were embraced and successful. (20 Points)

Please submit seven copies of each nomination submittal to: SMPS
National, Attn: Tina Myers, 99 Canal Center Plaza, Suite 330, Alexandria,
VA 22314. No faxes or e-mails, please. Nominations are due by
May 5, 2006.
Selection
Process
The nominations will be reviewed by a committee of distinguished members
from around the nation,
Award
The 2006 Chapter President of the Year recipient will be announced
at the SMPS National Marketing Conference, August 16-19, 2006, in
Hollywood, CA.
