Business Development Faculty

"The Basics of Business Development" and “Managing and Leading a Successful Business Development Team” are taught by a rotating faculty representing some of the most successful architectural, engineering, and construction firms in the United States. The instructors are senior executives within their firms--seasoned, active practitioners of business development with responsibility for bottom-line contractual results. Combined, they offer decades of practical experience. Instructors will be selected from the group below and are subject to change.

 

Brindley



Gilbert S. Brindley, P.E., CPSM

Principal, Benjamin Brindley and Sons

Gil Brindley is president of Benjamin Brindley & Sons, an engineering and construction management firm that specializes in meeting the needs of the insurance industry. As an owner and principal, he is a seller-doer, responsible for getting the work and executing the engineering. Gil is in partnership with his brother and father who perform engineering investigations, build construction estimates for insurance losses, and manage restoration and rebuild construction projects. Freddie T. Bustillo has been active in the built environment since 1981. Currently, he is a vice president with Hill International in its Houston, TX, office. Karen O. Courtney, AIA, FSMPS

Director of Business Development, L'Acquis Consulting Engineers

Karen O. Courtney, AIA, FSMPS, has been a marketing director and business developer for over 20 years in A/E/C firms ranging in size from medium to extra large, and she is both a registered architect and interior designer. From her work on branding, positioning, and public relations, Karen has helped firms grow their revenues, build markets in new geographies, change firm image, build brand awareness, and develop individuals as market experts.
