Which membership form should I complete?

There are specific online forms for each member type and situation. Please read the details below to make sure you are completing the correct form.

SMPS membership is annual and renewal is based on your anniversary date.

Forms

• New Member: If you have never been a member of SMPS and wish to join, please complete this form. To complete a print form, please download and complete the pdf  version of the New Membership Application and fax it to the SMPS Membership department at 703.549.2498. New member dues are $325 + $50 origination fee.
  
  
• Renewal: If you are an active member of SMPS and your membership has not expired, please proceed to the renewal form to pay by credit card. Renewal dues are $325.
  
  
• Reinstatement (membership has lapsed 3 months or more): If you are an inactive member of SMPS and your membership has lapsed 3 months or more,please complete this form. If you are uncertain if you are a past member or if your membership has lapsed 3 months or more, please contact the national office of SMPS at 800.292.7677, x229 or x226. Reinstatement dues are $325.
  
  
• Student: If you are a student and meet the criteria for student membership and would like to join SMPS, please complete the student membership application (PDF) and fax or mail with payment and verification of student status. Student membership in the Society is available to students enrolled in a full-time study program at an accredited post-secondary institution or to part-time students who are not employed full-time in the A/E/C industry or not otherwise eligible for regular membership in SMPS. You must provide verification of student status upon joining and when you renew. Student dues are $25.
  
  
• Transfer: If you would like to take over the remainder of another membership (changing the name on the membership to you) and the membership is still active, please complete this form. There are no fees to transfer a membership.
  
  
• Interim: If you are an active member and have left a firm that paid for your membership, you have the option to keep that membership active through the original expiration date even if your previous firm transfers that SMPS membership to someone else. If they do so and you would like to remain an active member, please complete this form. There are no fees associated with an Interim membership.
  
  
• Emeritus: If you are an active member in good standing who is retired and who has been an active member of SMPS for a minimum of 15 years, please print and complete the Emeritus member application (PDF) and fax or mail with payment. An Emeritus member will no longer be eligible to vote or to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. Emeritus dues are $30.
