SMPS Career Resources Guide

The Society for Marketing Professional Services has compiled this Career Resources Guide to help professionals who are actively seeking employment. 

How Can SMPS Help You in Your Job Search?
The following items are available to SMPS Members as a benefit of your membership. (Items marked with an * are available to SMPS members only.)

*SMPS Network
Access the 7,000 members of your SMPS network to learn about career opportunities, identify mentors, and seek recommendations and advice from your peers. This network is your greatest resource for career advancement.

Career Center
--Post your resume.

--Review currently available jobs posted by professional services firms across the country.

--Access expert career counseling.

Certification
Pursue certification. Join a local study group and prepare to sit for the exam. Companies recognize the Certified Professional Services Marketer designation as a valuable differentiator when evaluating candidates for marketing and business development positions. *Chapter
--Volunteer at your local SMPS chapter to build relationships, demonstrate your expertise, get your name out in the network, hear about job opportunities, and expand your leadership skills.

--Talk to the leaders of your chapter to learn more about the business climate in your area.

Nonmembers are welcome and encouraged to attend chapter programs and events.

Take this time to strengthen your skills. --Stay abreast of what's happening with other members in the network. Members on the Move alerts you to career changes your peers are making and could help you get your foot in the door of your dream job.

--Read about opportunities to get involved, demonstrate your leadership, or promote yourself (e.g., awards programs, grants, surveys, charity events) in the SMPS community and the design and building industry.

Speakers' Bureau
If you are interested in speaking at chapter and industry events to increase your exposure, create a speaker profile with SMPS. The Speakers' Bureau is promoted to the SMPS chapters leaders and regional conference planning committees as a resource for identifying speakers for their events.

Placement Services
Several SMPS members offer career counseling and placement services in the A/E/C industry. To learn more about their services, log in to our Web site using your member number and name, visit our online member directory, and search for "Placement Services" under the "Company Services" search field.
