Regional Conferences
Over the past several
years, SMPS Regional Conferences have grown in number, size, and
popularity, proving that they are an excellent way of supporting SMPS
members and the SMPS mission of advocating for, educating, and
connecting leaders in the building industry.
SMPS offers support in the
planning and execution of the regional conferences organized by
chapters. For more information, contact:

Regional Conference Planning Guidebook
The Black Book for Regional
Conference Planners: Essentials to Ensure Sanity and
Success
The SMPS National appointed an ad hoc
Regional Conference Task Force (RCTF) October 2008 to help
chapters participating in a regional conference. The RCTF set out to
provide the knowledge, tools, and structure needed to ensure a
successful event, as well as to build relationships among chapters and
with SMPS National. Developing a guidebook for regional conference
planners was the goal of the task force. The Black Book for
Regional Conference Planners: Essentials to Ensure Sanity and
Success was completed March 2009.
These guidelines are intended to be
just that: guidelines. The overall intent of the RCTF was not to
create hard and fast rules that encumber regional conference development
but guidelines that can make regional conferences equitable for all
chapters, beneficial to all members, and respectful of legal liabilities.
This guidebook will be a working reference for
SMPS Chapters for years to come. We hope that you find its contents
helpful as
you plan your regional conferences. If you have suggestions or samples
you would like to contribute to the guidebook, please e-mail Mary Cruz
at mary@smps.org. You can
download all or specific section of the guidebook below.
